Property of Scavenger is based on three different stories, texts processed by Alex Backstrom during the period 2004-2010.

The first story, With Good Intentions, and the revised shorter version, Soulless, takes the reader through the not-too-distant future where a man's wife suddenly falls into a coma as the first cryo-preserved people are resurrected. Tree decades earlier their souls were re-born and the reader follows the husband’s quest for the possessor of his wife’s soul, now reinstated in the former owner. The reader is also introduced in the awakeners’ return into society and how their mental health is affected by their past memories.

The second story, The Power Plant, gives the reader a glimpse into the life of a harvester and the other inhabitants of a power plant located outside Earths atmosphere. The story tells how inbred identities govern the residents’ and Harvesters’ hunt for the answer to a woman’s death. The only way to prove a murder has taken place is by ingesting psychedelic seeds to relive the victim’s memories.

The third and final story, Daydreamers, is set in a future when a population escapes to an alternative reality in order to earn victory points. In the shifting city, a place govern by a computer, the players’ emotional reactions are translated through gameplay interface. As interactivity among people in the real world is reduced that world becomes increasingly addictive, and soon there is no escaping their own sanctuary.

The third and final story, Daydreamers, is set in a future where a population escapes to an alternative reality in order to earn victory points, used in the real world as currency. In the shifting city, a place governed by a computer, the players’ emotional reactions are translated through gameplay interface. As interactivity among people in the real world is reduced the game world becomes increasingly addictive, and soon there is no escaping their sanctuary.

After these three short stories were completed, Alex noticed quickly that diffuse memories, escapism and the search for identity were clear themes. So the three different stories were developed into Property of Scavenger. In this story, Scavenger takes the reader through all the different layers of his consciousness. He writes us a letter, which gives us insight into his past life and how the seeds provide energy on board the power plant, the possibility to awaken forgotten memories and how the ultimate escape from reality takes place through a self-designed dream machine.
